Songs You'll Know - Harmonies You'll Love

Cowboy Choir performed classic country, timeless standards, early rock favorites, and contemporary gems at various events and venues in the Chicago area. Their acoustic guitars, bass, and violin provided the ideal backdrop for their voices that blended in perfect harmony. They hope you will remember them as you go along the trail.

Sandra Pillar: our violinist, soprano, and friend.

MEET THE BAND
Sandra Pillar:
Sandra grew up in a musical family and learned to sing harmony from the Methodist hymnal. Vocal lessons at the Old Town School of Folk Music encouraged her to pursue solo singing. Sandra played the violin which she rediscovered as an adult when she joined the Chicago Temple's string ensemble. Sandra was also an active member of the Temple's Bell Choir. She also played guitar on a couple of Cowboy Choir tunes. Sandra was also a member of rock group The Spanktones.
For all of us in Cowboy Choir, Sandra made our musical dreams come true. She had a stellar voice; her harmonies made every chord ring; and her lovely violin playing defined our sound. Sandra's charming personality made every show a delight for her band mates and the audience. She will always be part of us.
Carolyn Broquet:
Her day job is an Emmy award winning television editor, but Carolyn Broquet has entertained Open mic audiences at Davenports with Broadway numbers and selections from the American songbook. A vocal student at Old Town School for fifteen years, she has sung with the bands, "Higher Choir" and "Dukes of Yore", dipping into Motown and R&B. Carolyn applied her talents to the guitar and the crowd-pleasing harmonies of "Cowboy Choir", with tunes ranging from Patsy Cline to James Taylor to Fleet Foxes.
Carolyn is a member of The Swinging' Sisters: a charming trio bringing their dynamic harmonies to the classic hits of The Andrews Sisters and other tunes from the 30s, 40s and 50s!

David Rowley:
While growing up in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, holidays for David had an uncommonly old-fashioned feel; his mother and aunt would entertain the family by singing jazz standards from the 1930's and 1940's in close harmony. His interest in folk music was sparked through his father's record albums, and he began playing the songs on piano and guitar. David served as Cowboy Choir's music director and contributed tight vocal arrangements to the group's repertoire.
Andy Burnett:
While growing up in Ohio, Andy started off playing saxophone. After moving to Champaign, Illinois, he began playing electric bass with the group Projectronics. Andy's fretted, acoustic bass provides a rich, full tone that perfectly complemented Cowboy Choir's acoustic guitars.
